Coffee Scrub – 5 Simple Steps to make your own.

Hey! I’m so glad your here for this one!
I wanted to show you my favourite body scrub recipe that is most used in my beauty routine lately!

I have made a few body scrubs in my 4 years of living a low tox lifestyle, but this one…oh this one is a total game changer!
I couldn’t believe how easy it was to make…and cheap, compared to a store bought one!

The fact that i had all of the ingredients in my pantry is also a huge plus and i know every single ingredient that is going into it aswell.
If you’ve been here a while, you would know that i am really picky about what goes on my skin and i’m so much happier for it!

I also love the freedom of having essential oils in my home to add to my body scrubs to reap the therapeutic benefits from them and add a beautiful natural fragrance to the scrub, compared to the synthetic fragrances and chemical cocktails in store bought scrubs.

So i’m going to share the recipe with you, and the benefits of having a coffee scrub in your life.

Recipe:

What you’ll need:
– 1/2 cup solid coconut oil.
– 1 cup of dead sea salt or raw sugar.
– 1 cup of organic ground coffee.
– 20 drops of essential oil of your choice.

In a bowl:
1. Add the solid coconut oil and mix it with a fork until it’s a liquid.
2. Add the raw sugar (or dead sea salt) and mix until combined.
3. Add the ground coffee and mix until combined.
4. Mix in 20 drops of the essential oil that you’ve chosen.
5. Spoon into a glass air tight jar and store in the bathroom.

Apply to dry skin in circular motions before turning on the shower or hopping into the bath – you don’t have to scrub hard, just with enough pressure to stimulate some circulation.

Benefits of the coffee scrub:

  • Helps in reducing cellulite.
  • Use for smooth skin.
  • Exfoliates dead skin cells.
  • Evens out your skin tone.
  • It’s an antioxidant.
  • Helps with circulation.
  • Good for ageing skin.
  • Coffee grounds brighten the skin.

Oils i recommend:

The oils that i recommend to boost the benefits of the coffee grounds for healthier, glowing skin aswell as helping with the circulation and detoxification would be:

  • Ginger.
  • Smart and sassy.
  • Basil.
  • Grapefruit.
  • Lavender.
  • Lemongrass.
  • Lime.
  • Rosemary.
  • Thyme.
  • Wild Orange.

**SAFETY NOTE: Make sure that if you are going to use citrus oils that you avoid direct sunlight for up to 24 hours. Even though you wash these off, some of the coconut oil doesn’t completely wash off, and some essential oils may still be present on the skin.

You can also make this coffee scrub without essential oils and it would still be amazingly beneficial for your body — but if you want the added benefits that they bring, you can buy the essential oils here
