Travelling to Bali with a toddler.

Travelling to Bali with a toddler.

It’s been exciting.
Watching the excitement of a holiday through a toddlers eyes.

It’s his first time on a plane, in an airport and even in a bus taxi – he was in total awe of the things he was experiencing.
That being said, the plane ride was a total unknown, well because, he’s a toddler!

Would he sit still?
Would we have tantrums?
Would he actually sleep?
I came prepared.

I packed him an activity backpack for distractions, I made sure I had the right essential oils to help with any plane situations and I packed enough snacks to get us by because 3.5 hours is SUCH a long time for a toddler to sit still!

I wanted to share with you so maybe when you nervously take a trip with a toddler, you will be prepared too!

Activity Backpack:

I purchased the cutest little monkey backpack from Kmart and filled it with some fun activities that my little man is into.
It was so practical and fits into any budget!

– Monkey Bag (Kmart)
– Truck Book (Kmart)
– 3 little books (Koorong)
– Mini mega sketcher (Red dot)
– 4 pack of cars (Kmart)
– Colouring in book (Kmart)
– Crayons (Red Dot)
Super cute, super easy, super affordable and super FUN!

Now, the most important thing, apart from keeping them busy and distracted, is keeping them calm.
We rely on our essential oils for this part, because, well, they just work!
Everytime!

My toddler responds really well to the oils; during tantrums, in emotional outbursts and to keep him calm.
As well as keeping him calm, I want to keep him healthy, too.
So this is what I packed.

Plane Essential Oils:
Adaptiv roller.

To help with any anxious feelings, to create calm and help with relaxing.
It’s our calming blend and really does just that.
When it’s inhaled, you instantly feel a sense of joy and calm.
Mama might use this one the most!

FLOOT roller.

A blend of oils to assist the immune system from the enclosed cabin and exposure to germs without fresh air.
This blend contains;
Frankincense, Lemon, Oregano, On Guard and Tea Tree Essential Oil and is like natures antibiotic in a roller!
Roll along the spine, bottoms of feet, and lymph nodes to support the body and boost the immune system.

– DigestZen Roller.

Incase of airplane sickness, this helps with nausea, bloating, the runs and vomiting.
Simply smelling the oil will help to settle the stomach, and topical application to the stomach helps too.
They don’t call it the Tummy Tamer for nothing!

Easy Air roller.

To help with the drying out of nose and opening the airways helping with respiratory health.
It also contains a blend of essential oils specific for airway support and health so it’s super helpful on a plane!

Detox Roller.

Cilantro, Lime, Zendocrine and Juniper Berry.
This blend is for assisting the body in a gentle detox from all the chemicals they use in the cabin, and exhaust fumes from the plane.
This is a home made blend, and is diluted appropriately to use on a toddler.
It’s super easy to make your own rollers!

– Lavender Peace Touch.

(Serenity is the US name for the same blend)
To help with creating a calm response in the body to assist your toddler to feel relaxed and hopefully nap in tune with their schedule.
It’s a blend of 9 sleep supporting oils and is super effective for creating a calm and relaxing environment.

On Guard Sanitising Mist.

To sanitise arm rests, surfaces and hands wherever you go with total ease and total power.
On Guard is our Protective Blend which means it protects our immune system with the perfect blend of oils to support and boost our system to keep well. It’s the main ingredient in this spray so it’s super effective and super antiseptic.

Don’t have oils?

Snacks:
Again, Kmart for the win!
I purchased the 12 Compartment box and used it to fill with yummy snacks to occupy and satisfy his little tummy on the trip.

You can really fill this with anything, and I bet you could make it healthier than mine! I cheated a little bit for this time round and used packaged foods for ease (we don’t usually eat these).

The tackle box didn’t fit in the monkey bag, however I had bought the Kmart Timeless Tote Bag which had a zip compartment right at the bottom of the bag. I wasn’t really sure what I was going to put in that pocket, but thought i’d try my luck with the box!

It fit!
Quite perfectly too.

These tips and hacks created a non-stressful and totally organised plane flight that was super enjoyable.
I loved taking my little man on his first over seas holiday and created so many amazing memories!

Here is some photos from our plane ride;

Thankyou so much for reading, if you found this post helpful, I would love to know in the comments!

Lots of love, Hayley x
