Pop Up Camper.

Hey everyone and welcome to my blog about our new camper!

My husband and I purchased a Jayco Dove Pop Up Camper for our family in July 2020. As children, we both grew up camping and getting “off the grid” a few times a year and this is something we both love doing and want to continue with our son and future children.

This pop up camper, was my parents.
We had a similar one, but it was an older model and there were things about it that wasn’t working for our family’s needs.

For example, we camp with our dogs, so we rely on our camper to store everything when we travel. In our old camper, the kitchen had to fold down in order for the camper to be folded down. It took up majority of the floorspace in the van which made it really hard to store things in the van and had to pile it up on the backseats and pull it all back out to get the toddler out of his seat!

So we made the jump, and upgraded.
Our recent trip was SO much easier and we only had my handbag and essential oil bag on the backseat! It was much more comfortable.

I filmed a camper reveal video for my YouTube channel, and it got a huge response and everyone wanted to know where they could follow along with our remodels and redecorating process, so I thought I would share here with you all.

So this is our Pop Up Camper!
We all know what the outside of a camper looks like, and if you’re anything like me, you’re interested in what’s on the inside!
So let me take you through the inside of our van and how we set it up for practical use while camping.

This is the inside of our camper.
The colour scheme in here is pretty bearable (the last one we had was an older model and the colours were quite outdated to be polite…haha!)
However, we have a more modern plan for our pop up in the pipeline.

Picture dark grey covers on the lounge, pelmets removed, and different colour curtains.

I really like the layout of the lounges and table in this camper.
One reason being the table folds down to make another decent sized bed.
When our dogs are with us, we use that bed to put their dog beds on for them to sleep on.

The second reason is because when its wet and rainy, we have a mini projector that we set up to watch movies on and the long couch and the bed behind it means we can fit more people in comfortably.

It’s also the perfect spot to play board games on when its raining too!

This is the view from the end I just showed you.
The kitchen is pretty decent.
We have a lot more bench space than our last van, too.

I found these storage drawers in the Reject Shop and they fit perfectly on the bench tops for practical storage, and they are still fairly aesthetically pleasing.

One the left side, next to the sink we store our food/snacks in.
It worked so well on this trip, it made it easy to see what we had and it was all in the one spot.

We had potatoes, onions and other veggies in the top drawer.
Biscuits, crackers, pretzels and other snacks in the second drawer.
Chip box on the third drawer (one of the drawers broke so we had a vacant spot!)
and softdrink, coffee, milo, condiments etc in the bottom drawer.

We used the top of the drawers to store our towels and hubs toiletry bag!

On the other side, we use the drawers for clothes.
Top drawer has my clothes in it.
Second drawer is the toddlers clothes.
Third drawer is our toiletries, a pencil case, polaroid camera and our adventure book (i’ll explain about this soon).
Fourth drawer we have extra towels and my toddlers sleeping bag.

Hubby’s clothes were too bulky to fit in the drawers, but he wanted to use a backpack anyway, which tucked away nicely on the side of his bed next to these drawers.

We used the top of these drawers to store our first aid kit so it was easy to reach.

This is the other side of our kitchen, and we created some more bench space with a large chopping board from Kmart to cover the glass stovetop. I don’t tend to use the stovetop very often, but it’s not worth taking out so we covered it instead while we aren’t using it.

This gives us plenty of room for our coffee machine and we don’t have to worry about it scratching or damaging the glass!
We also got these cute little metal cups at Kmart too.

We hang them on a mug tree on the table for easy use, and they look cute too!

I need to get a fruit bowl for our fruit, and that will stay on the table also for our little man to help himself to a healthy snack!

We also keep a tray out on the table.
We use this quite a bit with meals, because we are always camping with family, we eat in our communal area out in the gazebo, so I like to use the tray to move plates, cups, cutlery and food all in one go with ease.

This is our Adventure Book.
We have started this when we bought this van, to document all of our family memories that we have. It makes a great keepsake.

We take polaroid pictures of the van set up, and any special moments we catch, we add in and just write up all the moments we want to remember and where we went!

I thought this was such a cute idea!

Back to the kitchen, we also store the Dyson heater on the bench top for the colder days/nights and it doubles as an fan also, so it will stay there for the warmer days/nights too!

Theres nothing worse than trying to day nap in hot canvas!
Next to the heater/fan, we have our diffuser and essential oils set up.

These are a huge part of our camping, as we use the diffuser to repel any bugs and mosquitos and we use the diffuser as a night light for the toddler and our oils are our first aid, so they are always with us.
