Which diffuser is right for you?

Which diffuser is right for you?

Hey guys!
I’m so happy to have you here, and hope that you find this post useful in choosing the right diffuser for you.
Whether it means one that fits in with your home decor, or one that runs the longest at night, or has the biggest output.

You’ll see throughout this post that i’m talking about doTERRA’s diffuser options, as i’ve never used anything other.
— and you know me, i wont share things that i haven’t used and tested vigorously!

So here’s the lineup!

We have (from left to right):
The Volo Marble diffuser.
The Lumo.
The Brevi.
The Petal Diffuser.

Looking at them, it’s hard to choose just one to get started with isnt it?!

Let’s start with the first diffuser that i ever purchased.
That was the Petal diffuser.

At that time, it was the only one really spoken about.
It’s pretty; It has the lavender purple on the bottom half and the white on the top.

This diffuser runs for 1 hour, 2 hours or 4 hours continuously
and has the option to turn the light off or keep it on.
It’s a warm dim light thats perfect for relaxing with.
It makes you feel like you’re in a day spa!

They have recently brought out a newer model; Petal 2.0.
It’s more of a clay brown base, with the same look and design as the old Petal.
(I don’t have this new one in my collection yet to show you,
but it has such a beautiful earthy, neutral look.)
The difference being the look, and that it runs up to 10 hours
and has a lockable lid to protect it from spills…and toddlers!

doTERRA diffusers have the little red dot in them as an indicator of where to fill the water up to.
So pull off the lid, fill your diffuser with water up to the line,
add your oils to the water and she’s ready to start supporting you once you’ve turned her on.

NOTE: If you overfill the diffuser, it wont diffuse into the air.
So if it’s not coming into the air, maybe empty the water a little ensuring it wasn’t over the red dot.

The next beautiful diffuser is the Lumo Diffuser.
This was the second option in the doTERRA diffuser range, and it was a more modern look as everyone started to go into the wood look/natural trend.

It’s got a wood like base, and the same white heavy duty plastic on the top as the petal.

This one is a very popular option, as it runs longer than a Petal diffuser does, making it perfect for night time diffusing.

This diffuser runs for 2 hours, 5 hours or 10 hours intermittently and also has a variety of light colours you can choose from.
Choose a colour to have on the whole time,
or let them run through all the colours while diffusing,
or simply turn it off.

This next diffuser came out last year and its super pretty!
It has a heavy, good quality plastic, marble stone look lid and it’s much larger than the other diffusers.

This one runs for 1 hour, 3 hours or 6 hours and has the dial on the front which determines how much it puts out.
You can turn it down if you’re in a small room,
or if you have a large area, you can turn it right up to get more coverage.
It also has two light settings, both are white lights,
but theres a dim setting or a higher setting.

NOTE: This diffuser is currently only available from the US market, and will need an adapter to plug into the wall.

This next one we are talking about is a limited edition diffuser (in australia anyway).
It’s the Walnut Brevi Diffuser.
It pops up for Mothers Day Gifts, Fathers Day Gifts or in our Holiday Brochures and they sell fast!

But in the US market, they come in some of the starter kits – theres a wood look one (like pictured) and a marble one.

It runs for 2 hours, 5 hours or 10 hours intermittently.
It has multiple light settings, and the colours are different to the other diffusers.

Its great for the men in the home to encourage oil use in their man caves.

There is also this cute little guy!
Who made an appearance nearly 3 years ago and hasn’t shown up since!
My toddler loves it so much, and unfortunately a few weeks ago it stopped working so we are hoping it will make an appearance again end of this year (or sometime soon!).

It runs for 10 hours consistently, and has a colour sequence or you can pick one colour to stay on. The light shines through the shapes on the top of the whale and projects them bigger onto the roof and the walls – acting as a nightlight too!

The best part of this guy, is it plays sounds.
You can choose from sounds of a stream, to birds and nature, white noise and a gorgeous little tune.

They also brought out a pink elephant diffuser 2 years ago with the same design, but again, haven’t been back in the market again yet!

I’m ready and waiting when they do!

So by now you might be thinking — How does a diffuser work?

“A diffuser doesn’t use steam, so the oils aren’t heated. When oils are heated, it takes away the power of the molecules, so steam is not what you are seeing coming out of the top!

It uses Ultrasonic Technology.
It uses water and electronic frequencies to create a fine mist from the essential oil and water.

Ultrasonic vibrations are created by a small disk under the surface of the water which causes the essential oil to break up into tiny micro particles and transfers into the air for you an aromatic experience.”
– doTERRA.

One thing i will say on the end of this is, when you’re using essential oils, your best option is a diffuser for aromatherapy.

Heat can destroy the chemical constituents, so you don’t want to be using oil burners – you know the ones with a tea light candle underneath.
It will change the aromatic experience of your oils, and thats just sad!

So if you are using an oil burner, throw it out, and invest in a diffuser of your choice – and hopefully this post helps you understand the difference in the doTERRA diffusers.

I would love to know what diffuser you have, and what area you have yours in! Let me know in the comments!

Lots of love, Hayley xo
